SAF-T

Stands for “Standart Audit File” for tax compliance purposes.

What is SAF-T?

The goal of implementing SAF-T is to improve and extend the tax and treasury audit process, to
increase the effectiveness and to have a better identification of key non-compliance areas in tax reporting.
SAF-T brought significant benefits to tax authorities in countries where it was implemented. The most important benefits are as follows:

  • Reduction of costs and duration of audit (ability to conduct audit remotely)
  • Abnormalities specified on the whole sample – increased effectiveness
  • Ability to conduct an audit of few taxes at once (e.g. CIT-VAT comparison)

How?

SAF-T works worldwide in two models:

  • On-demand
  • Compulsory periodic data handling to the tax authorities
